Most Hard-Working Trucker Contestant
Don W – Foley, AL
We know you work hard, what is the hardest part of what you do?
The hardest part for many drivers is being away from your family. I have been a long distance driver for over 33 years and that is an enormous amount of family time that I have missed! But with that being said, when I am home...we have good quality time together and that’s very important!
Your truck works hard too, what are the toughest conditions you've worked in?
I travel coast to coast with close to 4 million safe miles .Some of the toughest conditions to deal with is traffic in NYC and LA as well as many metropolitan areas around the country. Also dealing with some very harsh winter driving conditions in the upper mid-west area of the country,ie Wyoming, Montana, and the Dakota’s.
What has "life" thrown at you that makes your job more challenging?
In 2008, I had been leased to the same carrier for about 14 years and they went bankrupt, that is when my world got turned upside down and I had to make some hard choices if I wanted to stay in business! I have been with my current carrier for about 12 years now and doing very well.
